In one line

A miner never uploads a result — it submits settings, and the validator's own re-run of those settings is what gets scored.

What this is

Every ~72 minutes the Minos Platform builds a fresh challenge genome with hidden synthetic mutations.
A miner runs GATK, DeepVariant, or BCFtools locally and submits only its configuration.
The validator re-runs that exact configuration itself, then grades it with hap.py against private truth data.
A winner-heavy split turns the ranked scores into pay — but the split's own numbers are fetched live from the platform, not fixed in the validator's code.

What a miner is actually paid for

Being the single best configuration on that specific round's synthetic genome — first place is worth roughly nine times the entire rest of the field combined.
